Time Flies When You Are Having Fun!

It seems like yesterday that I was graduating high school and getting ready for my first year of college.  That was 24 years ago!  I am not sure where the time went while I was busy starting a career and having fun, but go it did!  Usually, stepping back and evaluating one’s life is sparked by death or tragedy, as our mortality cause us to contemplate what truly matters.  And it is during these types of contemplations that we find our deepest inspiration.

I know that one of the questions that comes out during my time of contemplation is why did I wait so long to come to this conclusion?  Why didn’t I do this earlier? And that is the idea behind this post: Why do we wait so long sometimes to make decisions or changes in our lives?

I will say it today, tomorrow and for eternity…now is the time for action!  Do not wait another day to identify areas in your life that need change or enhancement and do something today!  Today is the day to start living a healthy lifestyle , today is the day to start paying off debt, today is the day to go back to school, today is the day!

I want you to think about something in your life that you have known needed changing for several years now. And then think about how much progress you would have made had you made that decision to change last years.  Many of you would weigh a lot less or be completely debt free! Or maybe you would be a business owner?!

There is one thing in this life that is guaranteed and that is time will continue to tick away. When you are a young person time seems to be an unlimited resource. After all you still have college ahead of you, starting a career, starting a family, etc. But as you get older you realize time starts working against you.  You realize that the older you get the faster time seems to pass by.

That is why it is of utmost importance to take action right now and do not delay any longer!

Richard Branson the founder of Virgin Records and Virgin Airlines recommends to jump head first into whatever you’re thinking about doing without delay, just start immediately.   His reasoning is you will never be prepared enough, you will never have enough money, you will never have enough education; so just do it!  I believe having some type of plan before you begin will allow for more success but I also know those who gain success using this strategy.

He is the ultimate man of action. He started Virgin Airlines on a whim after being stuck with no flight to the Caribbean. He had a girlfriend waiting for him there and his flight was cancelled at the last minute.  So as he sat at the airport trying to figure out what to do, he called and booked a private charter to the Caribbean. He did not have enough money to pay for the charter so he went around the airport with a chalkboard that read “Virgin Airlines, Direct flights to the Caribbean, $100.”  The other stranded passengers paid up and headed to paradise, thus beginning Virgin Airlines!

As sure as the sun is going to rise in the morning, time will continue to pass by at amazing speed. So take inventory of your life today, determine what you want to do and do it. Do not delay, do not make excuses, do not fear! Your life is determined by you, as you are the designer of your existence. You get all the credit for your successes and are directly responsible for your place in life; now and in the future!

Yesterday you said tomorrow.

Big Dreamer

  1. Excellent post my friend. It really made this oinker think. To realize yesterday, I was a mere piglet 3 pounds and today WOW – almost four years later I’m a big boy at 45 pounds. Time FLIES by. What am I going to start today and not put off until tomorrow? Taps hooves… let me think. Being nice to the other anipals here at the Hotel Thompson. Just think of all the wasted time we have bunting heads when we can all be friends. Right? Have a great one! XOXO – Bacon

  2. Wow, I’m a young person myself and I will be going to collage or sixth form next year but I don’t know what I want to do…
This, like many things, has inspired me to get going and do something… But then I get stuck as to what to do :/ any help? Xoxo

    1. Sometimes procrastinating is insignificant. Sometimes I allow myself to leave dishes in the sink. But on the big things I always say to myself “tomorrow never comes” or “yesterday you said tomorrow.”

    1. That is kind of my saying. I frequently tell my wife that I am a work in progress. When I am feeling extra peppy I say a masterpiece in progress! lol

  3. You are coming from the perspective of being diagnosed with an incurable disease. It’s like that song that when you get that kind of news you love deeper and live like you are dying. My jump in experience has been researching a cause of lesions that the Lord led me to that is in our food and products. As simple as it seemed, nobody was talking about it and so I started a blog and researched it. It’s pretty awesome to see that Spaghetti Os and Marie Callendars has an ingredient that causes lesions. I hope you will come and read my blog and the Mother Load list to find if you are ingesting any of these foods or using these products. Wouldn’t it be great for the medical establishment to make the connection between food and products and sickness?

    1. Hello! Great work you on doing. I do not eat processed foods of any kind. Only lean protein, fresh veggies and fruit for me! Only way to stay fit and healthy!!
