How Do I Change?

So after my rant yesterday I spent serious time contemplating my post.  And although I do not regret anything I typed, I have concluded that our time here is best suited focusing in a positive direction.  So I have decided to spend a little time writing about how you can refocus your life, change your thinking and make lifelong, lasting changes for improvement.

I want to talk about the 6 step plan I use in my life to accomplish goals, which I first mentioned in a post titled Taking Action. The 6 steps are:  1. determine what it is that you want and state it, 2. determine what you are willing to sacrifice to get what you want, 3. develop a persistent attitude, 4. have faith, 5. develop organized planning and 6. execute.

Once you have filled in the 6 steps with the goal information you write out a paragraph like the one I wrote for my weight loss goal:

My desire is to lose 15 pounds by the end of February 2015.  To reach my goal I will sacrifice eating sweets, junk food, fatty foods and sodas.  I will also sacrifice my time twice per day and commit to walking around my neighborhood.  I will eat 1600-1800 calories per day, consisting of 3 meals and 3 snacks and will never eat after 7:00 pm.  I will track my caloric intake each time I eat with a mobile app.  I know that if I execute this plan and burn more calories than I consume my body will do its job and burn fat.  I will commit to this plan no matter how bad the junk food cravings get nor what other people say; I will persevere!

If you read my post Time For Me To Change you will see the entire 6 step plan in its entirety as it relates to my healthy lifestyle.  And most of you know that since implementing my plan I have lost 23 pounds, now weighing 168!!

I first learned of this type plan while reading Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich, which I highly recommend to all my readers.  It changed my life and the way I see the world forever!!  Anywho, in Hill’s book he outlines an extensive plan that consists of 15 or 16 steps.  Not being one to get too bogged down in details, I had to simplify it a bit.  So I picked theses 6 and they have worked wonders for me.

Here’s the truth: every single person on this planet is capable of greatness!  You just might not realize it yet.  If you struggle with seeing things through to the end then I highly recommend you adopt my plan and read Hill’s book.

Each step is crucial to achieving success, but as I have stated before, all achievement begins with desire (Hill, Think and Grow Rich).  You must develop an unquenchable, unrelenting, burning in your belly desire.  And with that type of fire desire, you can accomplish anything!

Hill focuses mostly on money, but the principles are transferable.  I have used these steps in business, developing this blog, losing weight and a few other goals.  They work!

I encourage you to assess your weaknesses and turn them into strengths.  Are you disorganized?  Teach yourself to be organized.  Are you a procrastinator?  Teach yourself to be a person of immediate action.  Are you in over your head in debt?  Pay down the debt.  Is your weight limiting your life?  Shed some fat.  Do you quit tasks and leave them incomplete?  Pick an unfinished project and complete it immediately.

When you tackle your weaknesses you begin to build what I refer to as positive forward momentum.  Find a simple task and finish that task.  Then find another and another and another.  Next you realize you turn yourself into a person of action.  Pay off one small credit card.  Then apply the payment dollars from that card to the minimum from another and pay another off.  Before long you realize you have paid down thousands of dollars.

The principles work and I encourage you to become a person of action right now.  Not tomorrow.  Not later today.  Not in a minute.  BECOME A RIGHT-NOW PERSON.

Big Dreamer
