Approximately 70% of us walk around each day dehydrated. That slows down your metabolism and when combined with poor eating and overeating, contributes to you gaining weight. My article shares today have talked about the health benefits of drinking water and the dangers of drinking soda.
I read this morning that a can of Coca-Cola has 9 1/3 teaspoons of sugar. Stop and imagine that for a moment. 9 1/3 teaspoons of sugar in a 12 oz glass fills approximately 20% of the glass. That is a lot of sugar; more than you should consume in an entire day! And it is the sugar in soda that will eventually catch up and overwhelm your health. Each person in America will ingest over 10 pounds of sugar each year from Coca-Cola products alone!
I have talked about how we used soda in the golf business to clean copper and tractor engines, but there are more uses for this great industrial cleaning product!
I like a cool, refreshing fountain soda once in a while, after all, I take a moderate approach to life. But there are many of my readers that consume soda as they should water and that is not only unsafe, but a deadly habit.
Are you aware that the current CEO of Coke does not allow himself to drink more than one of his soda products each day, and often goes days without drinking? The reason: too much sugar!
Do some research on what you are putting in your body. Not only is the soda causing you to be more dehydrated, but it is causing serious health issues due to elevated levels of sugar in your body.
Water is the answer. Learn to drink it.
Just a thought on a Thursday!

My friend and I were speaking of thus subject this morning, totally agree soda is bad, bad, bad, and like some I’ll have an occasional one now and then, but my go to source is water
Hopefully someone will read comments like yours and decide to drop the soda…
I shared it on twitter as well I have more followers there than any other social media
Thank you very much!
I’m a committed water drinker.
Stay that way!! lol
No worries about that. I pretty much gave up soda when I was a teenager and I’m in my 60s now.
Congratulations!
So very true, it is over-consumed! After giving up soda I have had much more energy.
Thank you very much for leaving your thoughts! Isn’t it nice to have more energy!! Simply by drinking more water.
I have given up soda. I might drink the occasional root beer or Pepsi on a special day or something, but I’ve switched to water with the occasional hint of lemon and/or lime juice. Besides cutting my sugar intake, my skin is looking much nicer and softer. Drinking water has a lot of health benefits.
Thank you so much for posting your experience. If more people, especially ladies, knew how hydration changes the skin they would switch immediately!
Love the message and love water!
I am glad you enjoyed!
Water always. Natural and the minerals in water are essential for our body, and 60- 65% of our body consists of water. Nice write to create awareness.
Thank you for reading and leaving your thoughts!
I haven’t had a soda in year’s…..I truly don’t miss it at all. More importantly my children don’t miss it. They don’t even ask for it. They now love water more than ever!
Keeping your kids off soda is one of the greatest favors you could have done!
I used to be addicted to Mt Dew. Drank 3-4 cans per day. Sometimes more. Terrible habit. Ditching that was my first step toward better health! Sometimes I feel guilty for the two teaspoons of sugar in each cup of coffee, but then I remember how far I’ve come from my soda-drinking days and I give myself a break. Sometimes goals require baby steps.
Goals require baby steps every single time! I am glad to read your comment as it reminds me of how hard we can be on ourselves at times! You should be proud of kicking the soda habit and celebrate only have 2 teaspoons of sugar in your coffee! All things in moderation…
I prefer leaping toward my goals! I have to remind myself that setting a slower pace helps sometimes 😉
Me too! I remind myself…”slow and steady wins the race.”
My husband says “slow is smooth and smooth is fast”
I like that!
Empty calories, no nutrients, possible causes of mild hydration, anxiety, addictions that cause other downward spirals, the cons far outweigh the pros. I’ll stick to water.
Most Sodas also contain phosphoric acid which contributes to weak bones.
I believe all sodas contain phosphoric acid as they must have this acid to keep mold and bacteria from growing in their high sugar recipe.
Not that they’re better for you than regular soda but I believe A&W root beer and Sprite are two that don’t have it. I’m sure there are others.
You are correct. A&W does not contain Phosphoric acid. And btw, A&W is delicious! lol
It still has all the other stuff ie sugar but it’s a lesser of the evils.
