A Few of My Random Thoughts…1/25/16

  1. I don’t ever talk politics, but I can’t help but wonder what the U.S. would be like if Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton became POTUS.  I don’t trust either one of them as far as I could throw them.  Trump seems to be an egomaniac, praying on the fears of the disenfranchised.  And even worse, Clinton seems to lack the ability to discuss top secret information privately.  Isn’t Edward Snowden wanted for the same actions Clinton has perpetrated?  I simply cannot imagine a world where either one of these crooks rule the roost.
  2. I don’t like to consider a world without football, but that reality is upon us.
  3. It has been far too long since I was on that little rock in the Caribbean!  I need Jost in my life, but we cannot seem to get Evelina’s papers in order.  Hopefully soon!

  4. I wish more people understood the difference between having an opinion and being opinionated.  The latter is not a quality trait.
  5. I still cannot get my mind around a star so big it could hold 100 million of our suns!
  6. My least favorite people on the planet are those that speak about subjects as if they are experts, when in fact that have no earthly clue what they’re talking about.  Refer back to #4…
  7. I love snow, but don’t like the ice storm we just received.  We still have nearly 2″ of solid ice on our sidewalks and side roads!  Makes for a dangerous situation trying to walk the dog.  Yesterday when I scraped the car it was covered in ice 3″ thick!
  8. A few of my readers that live with MS have emailed and asked why I don’t blog more about MS.  The truth is my blog isn’t a MS blog.  I will write about it on occasion, but I don’t really have any updates and seeing that things are the same, I don’t see the point in having the same conversation.  Maybe what I can do is recycle my post My Life Living With MS for all to read?
  9. I have decided to add more exercise to my daily routine than just walking the dog. Lately, I have been experiencing a little less fatigue from the MS so I am going to take advantage.  I’m going simple, old-school push ups to plank and some easy sit-ups.  Any of my readers into fitness feel free to chime in with suggestions.

  10.  If I had hair I would wear it just like this (oh my god I am cracking up adding this photo.  I mean, what was this guy thinking?  This is a studio photo!  That means this was scheduled! lol  I love the internet):bbe986f0dcf64b0f97a5b9e4ba3a15a8
  11. Evelina was driving yesterday and a piece of ice fell from an overpass and smashed a dent in the top of our car.  What are the chances of that?
  12. I am sad the Patriots are not headed to the Super Bowl.  I was born in Mass and hold strong allegiances to the New England teams, but I have lived in the Carolinas for most of my life.  I guess I gotta hitch up to the Panthers’ bandwagon!
  13. I still cannot believe that guy planned that photo session.  I am still laughing hysterically!
  14. I have a love/hate relationship with my personal Facebook account.  I have a hard time fighting the urge to get involved in silly disputes and arguments.  It is an energy drain.

  1. Lots of thoughts here, Danny, and not so random. I love your # 4. It speaks volumes !
I will miss football. And as for the election, I want them to add “none of the above” as a deliberate choice. Ice is so much worse than snow…I get it.

    And….that photo….my eyes ! my eyes ! ☺

    • I have thought to write-in Mickey Mouse as my vote, but that makes me feel so wrong in some way. I want my vote to count, but these guys and gals might as well put on face paint because they are clowns.

  2. A couple of thoughts: First, the dude in the banana sling was my profile picture for many weeks on Facebook. I called him the “It’s sexy time!” guy, and many, many friends begged me to take him down. Why? Who wouldn’t want to know it’s sexy time? Second, MS is part of your life, but it’s not your only identity. People forget that you are going to have interests and beliefs that you want to talk about besides MS. Third, you have my sympathies with the ice. The chunk falling down and smashing into the hood of your car must have given you a mini heart attack. Pretty sure I would have messed up my shorts.

    • Evelina said it was a hard impact. And you are right, I don’t want to talk about MS all the time…I live with it! If I also talked about it all the time I would probably jump off my house! lol

  3. Enjoyed the post. Politicians are clowns here too and that’s sad. They will not improve the world ever, so I don’t really get why they should rule it. But even if they’re clowns we have to defend our right to vote by voting, even if the alternatives are no good. Weird situation. I want a “non of them” vote possibility here in Sweden too 🙂

  4. Regarding number 4, I think it depends on what you believe the definition of “opinionated” is. I know it’s meant to be a bad trait, but I don’t think it is necessarily so. The people who fight for “causes” are usually opinionated, they don’t just have an opinion because if they did, they wouldn’t put their heart and soul into righting wrongs. Opinionated people do a lot of good sometimes, they don’t just annoy the hell out of others for going on and on about rubbish and refusing to admit to being wrong 😉
PS: I did not solely write this comment just because I describe myself as “opinionated” on the “about” page on my blog 😉

    • Opinionated has a definition that most people are not aware of…”conceitedly assertive and dogmatic in one’s opinions.” To have an opinion is one thing. To be conceited about an opinion is grossly annoying. I prefer to be a little more open minded.

      • Yes, that’s the received definition, however it has evolved since then, like a lot of words in any given language. I once led a campaign to reinstate 3 people who had been unfairly sacked in the company I was working for. I had to do all the running and everything on my own because nobody else could be bothered but I just couldn’t sit back and accept the injustice of it all. I was described as “opinionated” by the various area managers and directors I met during said campaign. Well, I took it as a compliment, because if I hadn’t been I would have given up at the first hurdle. Two of the people were reinstated and the third one accepted severance pay rather than come back. To this day, I am glad I was opinionated…but only in my definition of it: fighting for an opinion if you are completely convinced that you are doing the right thing, not letting others intimidate you…etc…NOT conceited and dogmatic 🙂

  5. Spark People has great workout videos. I liked a lot of them when I was anemic for a year. You might find something that works for you. Most of them are only 10 minutes or so. SparkPeople.com

  6. I’d take Hillary over Trump any day of the week. I’ve had first hand experience of that man’s megalomania and bullying. He destroyed a beautiful area of Scottish coast where I used to live. Many of us were bullied out of our homes so he could do that. He’s an evil asshat.
