I Remember This Conversation With My Doctor

Healthy-LivingI once spoke with a doctor who told me losing weight for most people isn’t difficult.  This conversation came about because I asked him what my ideal weight would be which led to a quick talk about obesity in the United States.  He went on to say the biggest issue for most of his patients is understanding how dramatic an impact food has on how we look and how we feel.

He went on to say that most of his patients complain about their weight yet continue to eat terrible foods.  His exact statement was “Losing weight for most people isn’t difficult. What is difficult for them is 100% giving up foods that cause the bulk of their problems.” He went on to explain how the body works and how, even if it takes a long period of time, if a person gives up toxic, low-quality foods the body will find an equilibrium.   He stated that many people rationalize or justify eating foods that taste good, but are low-quality and these types of foods are the exact cause of many of their problems.

  1. Food is one of my great passions, if not THE greatest love of my life. But it has to be proper, actual food – not processed, no cr*p out of a packet – just honest, good food. Eating is my favourite thing to do but I remain in fairly good shape, if I do say so myself!
