Some People Enjoy Conflict, But I Do Not

images (10)Conflict is never easy.  And the fact that no person is perfect means we all will deal with conflict at some point in our lives.  When conflict is brought to our doorstep by another it can be easier to deal with than when we are the cause of the conflict.  It bothers me incredibly when I know I have caused someone I love pain or disappointment, but it is part of life and we must accept responsibility, apologize and move forward; attempting to do our best to not repeat the offense.

Some people enjoy conflict, but I do not.  I don’t like anything about it.  I don’t like to argue.  I find drama to be deplorable.  I do not thrive on conflict.

  1. I am the same…

“Some people enjoy conflict, but I do not.  I don’t like anything about it.  I don’t like to argue.  I find drama to be deplorable.  I do not thrive on conflict.”

  2. I agree with you. I feel like some people enjoy the attention that conflict brings. Such a shame that they don’t trust that there are more positive and less toxic ways to be noticed.

      1. Right. Most especially when it is unnecessary and unproductive.

        For instance:

“Arguing with anonymous strangers on the Internet is a sucker’s game because they almost always turn out to be—or to be indistinguishable from—self-righteous sixteen-year-olds possessing infinite amounts of free time.”
        Neal Stephenson

      2. A few years back I was an avid internet arguer. Then I realized it was taking away from my quality of life so I stopped. lol

      3. I had my fill of it back in the ancient days of Usenet News Groups and flame wars. So much do that I swore off social media for about 20 years.

  3. I must be using a more broad definition of conflict because not all conflict is bad and it can even help us to grow. An example of a conflict that I would not consider as bad is the uncommon occurrence on my job when I disagree with the a design decision made by our business person. In that case, I am arguing for what I think is best for our client. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don’t but every time it was a discussion that was needed.

Of course, there are some types of conflict that we should avoid if at all possible especially the ones that are physical. We certainly don’t need to have negativity in our lives either. The important thing is resolve the conflict, understand what caused the conflict, and learn and grow from it.

    1. Yeah, I’m not referring to that type of conflict, but the post is always open for discussion. I love reading different views. It helps me expand my noggin. 🙂
