Danny’s World: Shopping and Exercise Tip

Here’s an exercise tip for those of you who struggle with chronic pain: when you go shopping, park a little farther from the store than usual and make yourself walk a few extra steps.  

I make it a habit to do this every day!

The extra steps add up throughout the week to help burn calories and strengthen your legs.  You must make your body move even if it hurts because the more you sit around doing nothing, the worse your pain will get.

  1. My mother needed to hear that from you. She has bad leg pain and chooses to be sedentary most of the time. No matter what I say or how I say it, she takes my words as irrelevant irritation. I think if she heard from a source that she trusted she would do something about it.

  2. I’ve been doing something similar when I started using a pedometer (plus, it annoys the teenager – bonus). Another way to get some extra steps is to take the scenic route through the store. However, you run the risk of buying more than you intended. 🙂
