Danny’s World: Week In Review August 27, 2017

Isn’t it funny how life can swing so quickly and things start looking up when at one point all looked so dire?!  The temperatures in Charlotte have swung so dramatically that it is as if someone saw my plight and flipped a switch.  Instead of 95 degrees with 99% humidity, our temps have been in the 80’s with 60% humidity.  To say this is an anomaly for August in the south is an understatement and one I am grateful to experience.  Maybe the solar eclipse has sent me into an alternate universe??

This past week was successful for me on several fronts.  I started 2 new marketing campaigns at work which is always a great and exciting feeling.  New campaigns are like fuel to the fire and motivate me to continue working hard.  Also, one of our local papers held their “Best of” awards on Thursday night which was a huge success.  Over 200 businesses participated which gave the event an exciting energy.

I have finalized the details of our Disney World trip in November for Evelina’s birthday.  I’m not sure who is more excited-her or me!  We are staying on property and for the first time we will be using Disney’s Dining Plan.  I am looking forward tot he Dining Plan so I don’t have to come out of pocket every time we eat.  It will increase my enjoyment 10 fold.

As many of you know, Evelina passed her BAR exam and has interviewed with a local firm here in town.  I believe she is going to accept their offer.  This attorney job will be good for her as she’ll be able to do some interpreting also.  Being trilingual has its advantages.

And lastly, Evelina’s parental units are coming in to town for Labor Day week and I think we are headed to the mountains for a couple days.  There is a little town in the mountains called Lake Lure that we enjoy so I think we will take them there for 2 days to relax and maybe look at some property!  That will be exciting.

That’s it for this week.  I hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday!

  1. My parents built their retirement home in the Lake Lure area. Their subdivision was called Shumont (spelling is not correct) Estates which was close to the Apple Valley golf course. Both of my parents worked at the golf courses before the resort was bought by Wyndham. It was designed by my brother and build by my two brothers and my parents. It had a beautiful view of bald Mountain. When my dad was nearing his mid-80s, the house was just becoming too tough for them to maintain. So they had to sell it. It was one of the hardest things they have had to do.
