Let me ask you a question:

What birthday was your favorite?  What made it so special?

  1. My last birthday that was special was turning 21, for obvious reasons. My wife always makes our birthdays special though, in some one. To me, I’d rather just let it pass without any fanfare. She doesn’t see it that way. I try to make hers special too, generally with a trip or a date night surprise. This year, she turns 50, and I’m surprising her with a long weekend in Key West. We fly out next Thursday morning, at 5:00a.m. That will be special for sure. 😃

  2. When I turned 29. For no particular reason it just turned out to be the perfect gathering of people, food, weather and music. According to certain sources, the world is supposed to end on my birthday this year, so that could be eventful. I still want cake, though.

  3. How timely! I turn 65 on the ninth. Not looking forward to it. My favorite memory of a birthday was when I turn 40. My kids and one of my friends bought everything black, over the hill items, and we had a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. We took four spoons and just dug in!

  4. I’m having trouble thinking of a special or favorite birthday that stands out. I can think of a few that were remarkably bad for one reason or another, like the one on which a girlfriend decided to break up over dinner, but special, not so much.

  5. For me it was my 18th. Even though the legal drinking age in New York at the time was still 18, that isn’t the reason. I was a freshman in college and this age made me feel like I was more equal with my peers. I started school at 4 and was 17 when I graduated from high school. Because I have an October birthday, I didn’t turn 18 until two months into my first year of college. I felt very good about finally reaching that milestone.

    • I was in the same boat. I started school a year earlier than everyone else so I was always younger. I never thought about it until you mentioned it, but I always felt “behind” all the other kids.

  6. My last one, which was my first with my husband. We didn’t even do very much, just went to Subway for dinner after he got off work. That sounds sad, but I live in China and crave good sandwiches. 😉 But I just enjoyed spending the day with the man I love. Oh, and as a gift he took me to a fancier restaurant with my favorite…Mexican food!!!
