  1. Yep, a few times. The first time was back in the late 80’s, and we were actually at the old Meadowlands stadium for a Grateful Dead concert. The other times have been taking the train up from D.C. while visiting there. An amazing place to visit, but I could never live there.

  2. I’ve been there twice. The first time was in August, 1970. I had just been discharged from the Army at Ft. Dicks, NJ and had to go into Manhattan to catch a train to go visit some friends in Redhook, NY in the Hudson valley, lugging a stuffed dufflel bag on the subway – loads of fun. The second time was a stop on a major road trip vacation with my then wife and her son (age 6) a few years later visiting those same friends and playing tourist in the City for a day, including going to the Statue of Liberty.

  3. first time was for the New York World’s Fair…..we stayed in Cherry Park, NJ with cousins and went every day for a week to the fair. second time in high school for a week’s trip for the band and concert choir. We went to Mama Leonie’s Italian Restaurant, saw a play, saw an opera (Carmen), went to MOMA, several other museums and spent a day wandering through Greenwich Village. Third time was just passing through on the way to somewhere else..but the cab ride from one airport to another took me past the old ball park which was fascinating……twice more for overnight visits on the way to other countries.

  4. Yes … once in 1968 … went from bar to bar and had a cop in times square threaten to arrest my friend and myself. Spent most of the night sleeping in the port authority while waiting for a bus to take us back to Lakehurst, NJ. … Didn’t see much in the dark but the bottom of my gin glass over and over again … I did eat some questionable meat on a stick from a street vendor that was pretty noteworthy … made it out of the big city without needing shots for anything … g
