My Favorite Part of Planning a Vacation Is the Anticipation

My favorite part of planning a vacation is the anticipation…

I think I have said this before, but there is something about the excitement that happens  inside me when I am planning a vacation.  Evelina and I are going down to the condo in Naples in just under 2 months and I am beginning to get extra excited.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it is a basket of grouper and chips!

I have been doing research to find some things to do which we have never done and restaurants at which we’ve never eaten.  So far I am considering parasailing, bike riding, a sunset romantic dinner for 2 and a few other things.  I must keep the list short because we are only spending 5 nights in Naples before heading to Disney for 3 days.

At any rate, planning and finding new things has really injected a bit of excitement into my veins especially when I realized we are less than 2 months from leaving.

For me the excitement begins to build when I start planning our route, designing a budget, scheduling reservations, etc.  Looking at new places to eat and pictures of the ocean begins building an anticipation inside me that wants to erupt like a volcano.  Each day of research uncovers something new for this trip or something I might want to put on the agenda for a future trip.

I just love the little adrenaline rush that planning a vacation releases in me.

Let me ask you, what is your favorite part of planning a vacation?   And where might you be headed this year?

  1. I will be going to Seattle at the end of next month for a surprise visit for my granddaughters. The youngest one has a gymnastics exhibition and the oldest one has a violin concert. Then I will go for make my son’s birthday in August, also a surprise, and August. The greatest part of my vacation is getting on the plane and knowing that I’m going to see my family!

  2. I’m staying local this year. i’m from cork in Ireland, but i’ll head to co. Kerry for my vacation. there is a lot to do there. i’m heading there in 3 weeks! and I cant wait! xoxo

      1. The first day is kind of weird. But then it goes away. We are getting 8 inches of snow here today, so hot sun and canoeing sounds really good. Just 3 more months!

  3. This is so true. I just returned from 6 days at the beach. It will be the most important vacation “we” ever had together, and the most meaningful of my life. I didn’t know that at the time. I was blessed to have been given these six days.

  4. I won’t be planning any vacation anytime soon, but when I have gone on vacation, I love researching where to stay and what to do. I don’t like to waste time once we get there since we’re only going to be there for a few days. I like to plan it, so we can see as many places as possible. Love planning, it’s exciting. Probably just go to Cloudcroft, NM for one day since it’s only an hour away.
