  1. Ok, are you on vacation, at a beach? Have you been imbibing with salt water? Have you been out in the sun too long? If I read on the news they found a man at a beach, on hands and knees, with a magnifying glass, I’ll know who they’re talking about.

  2. I suppose technically you could certainly get a rough idea, if you take a small section of beach, count the grains of that, figure how far down it goes. Then multiple length, by depth.

    Or the other way I suppose, would be to collect all the sand on a beach, Find out how much that weights, Count how many grains of sand is in 100g and figure it out that way

  3. I don’t think so. The beach would change due to waves or tides, or people taking away sand on their feet when they leave, etc. The number would never be constant long enough to count the grains of sand.

  4. When you say THE beach, do you have a specific beach in mind? Because that would surely be easier than if you meant all beaches in general…… perhaps you could just focus on a teeny tiny beach to start with, then scale it up…..
