  1. Against me better judgement, I have been. Last time we were in Cozumel, we were diving on the reef, and a few reef sharks meandered by. They didn’t seem to pay us much mind, but we’re within 10 ft of us at times. It’s a bit disconcerting. As many times as I’ve dived, snorkeled, and surfed, I’m sure there were some around at times, just didn’t realize it. And Ocracoke has one or two shark attacks each year, so with the proximity to the Gulf Stream, they’re definitely there. I just try to be aware but not think about it too much.

    1. I like the videos shot from piers showing schools of sharks swimming within 50 feet of swimmers who have no idea. I don’t swim in the ocean for that very reason.

      1. Hahaha! I can’t help myself. I have to be in the water. It’s definitely a roll of the dice. Especially on a surfboard. Maybe I should paint “Not A Seal!” on the bottom of mine, to prevent any confusion. 😃

      2. Yep. Is what it is. But, we assume risk walking across a downtown street. Risk is inherent in being a living being. So, I’m gettin’ in the water while I can. 😃😃

      1. That is fine as long as I am in a cage, Great whites, will only try and eat you if they think you are a seal. Tiger Sharks will attack a human regardless and I am fairly sure hammerheads are evil as well, but I would have to double check that

      1. Nope. Jellyfish.

Don’t wrestle with snakes, not interested in being up close and personal with Africanized bees, jumping off a skyscraper like a modern-day Iracus–nope, none of that. I’m just fine being a scaredy cat.
