It’s another day. Being treated to dinner is just fine, but the hullabaloo isn’t really needed.

I’m the same. Dinner, a gift, but that is all. I don’t like surprise parties or what-not.

Not at all. I enjoy the attention, especially from my family, but I don’t get the point of celebrating the fact that I managed to live through a whole year 😛 If anything, my Mom should be celebrated on that day, for working so hard to give birth to me 🙂

As I have gotten older I don’t. It falls in early Jan right after the holidays. Usually by then I’m tired and just ready for things to get back to normal. A good celebration for me is good sleep and a good meal! How about you?

Nope, I don’t. Just another day to me. But my wife? She doesn’t let it go without some sort of hoopla. 😃

Nope.

Certainly not, but grandkids? Definitely a pleasure.

No, an others may if they choose, but I don’t demand it or feel slighted if they don’t.

Not really. In our marriage, the birthday person gets treated to dinner and dessert of their choice and that’s about it. 🙂 Now when our son was growing up he got all the bells and whistle and he still (he’s 22) gets as much hoopla as he will allow. 🙂 <3

I sure do! I like to make a fuss about other people’s birthdays, so of course I like to make a big fuss about mine! I’m fortunate enough to have friends and family who are always eager to get into a festive mood, so I take advantage of it. Life is short, so let’s get celebrating! 😀

I like it super low-key on my bday… my oldest daughter’s bday is two days before mine, so I make a big deal out of hers and then want to just relax on mine! That’s the best gift 🙂 Now that she’s older, we often celebrate together, and that’s fun too. My bday falls on 9/11, so it’s a bittersweet/solemn day. But every year older is a blessing and worth a celebration!

Small dinner with close friends. That’s my perfect birthday.

For the big ones I may do, but each time I get to a big one (30) I decide its not that big of a deal

Nope…I prefer to let the day go by without incident. Only a few people pay it any mind anyway. It’s never been a happy day for me, so it’s business as usual.

I’ll joke around about it with my wife and son, saying things like I’m the birthday boy and stuff. Other than that I don’t, my birthday comes and goes at work without anyone ever knowing it happened, and that’s how I like it.

Not exactly a BIG deal but I always celebrate my birthday. I always have. And now as a survivor of cancer and an autoimmune disease I celebrate just being alive and still being here.

Obviously I make a big deal of my birthday. This day only comes once in a year and the only day I can get people to do whatever I want. Duh!!

When I was a kid yes, but as I get older, it’s a reminder of how I have not succeeded in anything. (Besides raising and being there for my children)

I think you are probably being a bit hard on yourself.
