Let Me Ask You a Question – 8/20/18

Either there has always been something or at one point there was nothing.  Both of these scenarios seem unfathomable, but clearly one of them isn’t.  How do you explain this?

  1. It is the equivalent of the “did the chicken or the egg come first?” question… No one can tell, and maybe just one of Life’s mysteries meant to puzzle the human kind forever 😛

  2. Can’t. Big Bang theories and religious theories aside. Each are just that: theories. People who speak in absolutes about things like this are admirable, for the strong beliefs, but I don’t see how they can be so sure.

      1. I agree. Not sure why folks have this need to know, or prophess that they know, every little thing anyway. A little mystery isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

  3. If ever there was truly nothing (even time or space, even empty space), then something came of nothing, which cannot be explained. “God did it.” doesn’t work because then “God” is the something coming out of nothing. But, if there never was not something, then there is no beginning and no end, just as incomprehensible. I think this is a question best answered with “We don’t and cannot know.”, and one that people under the influence of certain psychoactive chemicals are ill advised to ponder.

    1. I think it is applicable kind of. The cat could be dead or alive, but at some point the cat will be either dead or alive but not both. Similar principle I think.
