I’ve done both. We currently live rurally, on a farm. But, we moved out there from a very dense urban neighborhood. I love both. City living is convenient, we could walk to galleries and restaurants and shops and bars. But, I will never give up the privacy and solitude and natural setting we have in the country. I still work in the city, so the commute sucks sometimes. But once I get home, and close the gate behind me, the world disappears.
I like cities. I’ve also lived long times in rural places. I’ve had to think about this, in the vein of what I want (and may be able) to do when I eventually sell this place. I’m still pondering.
I am originally from the L.A. area, and lived there most of my life. I have never liked big cities, but the older i get, the less i like them at all. i would definitely choose rural now, although I still live in the suburbs. My husband is not ready to make that leap yet. I’ve been ready for years.
In a city mainly because I don’t enjoy driving long distances or being very isolated. I appreciate it in small spurts but not any longer than a couple of weeks.
I live in a perpherial suburb of a city. I enjoyed getting out into the countryside. I would gladly live in a rural area as long as they had good health facilities not too far away. I love little country townships.
I like my combination of rural and small city living. I’m lucky to have both. Big cities are not for me, but it can be nice to visit them now and then.

I wanted to live in Raquel Welch’s house but she said “No” so I guess I’ll stick with a semi-rural location.

🦋 Funny you should as this question now.
We are contemplating just that and decided that the city life is not us anymore…

It is nice when you need modern conveniences.

Yes it is. It’s quite learning to experience both “worlds”. I appreciate them both but in different ways.

Rural, I would actually go further and say a lighthouse on a little island somewhere

I’m with you on this one. I’ll take the country over the city every single time.
