      1. Well, the only people whose opinions I’d care about are my family and close friends. I’d hope they’d say I was a terrific dad, a loving husband, and a fantastic friend.

  1. Over-nice things I probably won’t deserve… And I don’t say that in self depreciation way. People just tend to overlook dead people’s flaws once they’re gone.

    1. I agree. A guy who was once a buddy of mine died last night. The truth is he died owing lots of people money, me included. He lied a lot, but had a good heart down deep. He’d be the guy who would come get you if you needed and would help you paint or move. But he had major, major flaws and being crooked was one of them. I am sure at his funeral people will find the nice things to say instead of the honest truth or maybe what they might be thinking.

      1. Exactly… And if I may quote Garrison Keillor (gotta love the guy) “They say such nice things about people at their funerals that it makes me sad to realize that I’m going to miss mine by just a few days.” LOL

  2. I don’t plan to have one, certainly not of the religious variety. Whoever winds up being in charge of my remains can do what the please with my ashes, unless I decide to donate my worn out husk to science.

    1. I’ve always thought the best way to live one’s life is to begin with what you want people to say about you at your funeral then commit to the actions that will produce those kind words.
