I’d say that most of my inspiration comes from my faith, family, and nature. Each of these inspires me to be a better person, take care of myself/others/the earth, and learn from everything I see/experience.
Nature is very high on my list. Even the simple things like leaves falling from the tree and then blooming again in the spring. The scope of the universe. It is awe inspiring.
I think that varies, but with inspiration first more often. On the other side, there’s that state of restless searching (not exactly boredom ) of motivation without a clear direction, needing inspiration.
Quite simple, really. Inspiration is free and easy. Motivation is hindered by an overwhelming urge to procrastinate. At least for me. )-:

Which one do you see as being foundational?

Inspiration is getting the idea to do or create something. Motivation is the urge to actually act on it.

I’ve always viewed motivation as internal and inspiration as external.

Inspiration is taken, motivation is given? 😜

I think it’s just the opposite.

I figure that you take your inspiration from others, but you give motivation to others. I hope I inspire my students as I try to motivate them? 😀

Is motivation external or internal? I find motivation to be more internal.

One can be motivated without inspiration, but inspiration gives direction to motivation.

Take blogging for example. You might see the inspiration of a Prompt but you need motivation to write the post.
