1983 at an ice skating party we had for my daughter’s birthday. After my ankles finally stopped screaming, I fell on my right knee and it swelled up like a balloon. The boy running the ice lake area wrapped it in ice and I went to the ER. Luckily my leg was now frozen which btw is a nono–you don’t wrap ice on bare skin….so I didn’t feel the huge needle he used to extract fluid. That all resulted in a knee replacement years later. Oh and the doctor lectured me about skating at my age, which was 35…35!?!
Years ago… But shhhushhh, don’t tell anyone. I don’t want to lose my Canadian passport. Unless I can get a Danish one in exchange, then, go on and tell everyone you know! LOL
That would be in teenage years, so that’s oh…many years ago, wow how time flies. In a couple of years I’m fifty and not fifteen! Where did the time go?
Over 20 years ago. I kinda sucked at it too. 😏

We went last week and Evelina broke both the ulna and radius in her arm. Fun times.

You aren’t missing much. It is dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing.

Canadians can have it. At my age it is far too risky

Never. Used to do regular skating and also in-line skate. Probably one of the reasons I had to have my right ankle practically rebuilt years later.

Awful. And the ice at the wall was so uneven and dangerous.

I’m surprised. Living in NYC I would think it would be a regular winter activity.

Well, that’s true, it is for some but not available in every neighborhood and skates are expensive to rent or own.

I remember it was fun skating but these days we don’t have enough cold weather for skating.
