I’ve read that there is a mindset change that occurs as we get older and that is we begin to look back on memories more than we look forward to making memories.
That could be for some. There are at least three ways to look back on memories, nostalgia, regret, and seeking greater understanding and wisdom. I think I don’t think much about making memories. They will be made in any case (barring dementia).
No you can’t but neither can you completely live in the past or keep thinking about the future. You will have moments in your life where you are sometimes stuck, so for example and love one dying and you seem stuck in those moments with them or the future, where you are all consumed by something big (having a baby, buying a house etc)
I am looking forward for the best 😃

Forward but sometimes the backwards interferes because it was bad.

Neither, I try and stay in the moment

Ok, I’ll give you that, but is it fair to say no human on the planet can live completely in the moment?

I try to look forward, but sometimes I admit that I look back when things get particularly hard.

I think the honest answer is that we all look back quite a bit. Few admit it but it is natural.
