I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive. According to some neuroscientists, part of the function of dreams is to sort out what to put into long term memory and what to discard. That covers both ideas. And, whatever deeper meaning we may find in our dreams is the meaning we give them, whatever else may be happening in the process.
I don’t think dreams have much meaning other than serving as a pressure relieve valve of sorts. It is difficult to imagine any of the random dreams have any bigger meaning.
I have read several opinions on dreams and I haven’t found any theories that make sense to me to explain why they would have any deeper meaning. What does make sense to me is the brain processes stress and purges it out in the form of dreams.
Dreams can be significant or sometimes just dreams and seem to be a bit of a jumble. I have had some prophetic dreams and that is a disconcerting fact that I do not really know what to do with.
I suppose we have r ro consider that the dreams are produced by our own brains and minds and therefore are composed from what we are thinking, seeing and experiencing. For me that is what gives some of them weight. Others can be regarded as file cleaning!🙂
I believe dreams are our subconscious mind trying to tell us something. If we stop and reflect on the dream often times it signifies something going on in our life or mind in general
I actually ponder the dreams as well as what’s going on in my life in the hopes to bring some clarity. For instance, not long ago I had a dream about my dad. In my dream he was very disappointed in me for the choices I have made. I realized that my dream was merely my own disappointment in myself. My dads opinion always meant a lot to me. It took a week or so but I realized it was me who was disappointed and that dream offered clarity in the sense I knew I had to take some action and make changes
the only example I can come up with, is lets say out the corner of your eye you see something really important, for some reason you know it is important and deep down it is bugging you. Your dreams might bare that out

🤔🤔🤔🤔
Good question!
I think it depends on the dream since sometimes our dreams are reflections of some of the things that are on our minds

I have had 2 dreams in my life that I don’t know what to do with. They seemed too real to discard, but then again they were dreams

Possibly. But then what do you do with the info? How much credence do you give them?

I think it is to do with our subconscious and what we have noticed throughout the day

But do dreams have any deeper meaning? And if so, how much value should we place on them?
