Let me ask you a question…
Why do people drive at the speed limit in the left lane? Do drivers not understand the left lane is a passing lane only? Or is that rule a thing of the past?

I have no idea, but it’s maddening!!!! 😡
It is maddening. This morning a lady got upset at me because she was doing 70 mph in a 70 zone in the left lane.
People suck, and the level of suck increases exponentially when they’re behind the wheel of a car. 😏
I’m a speed limit driver..even in the left lane (sorry not sorry) but in my defense, I use the left lane only when I know I’m going to be having to make a left turn 🤷🏻♀️
I’m referring to the interstate mostly. In the city I have no problem with someone being in a left lane or driving the speed limit. On the interstate I think different rules apply.
Which is why, as an inexperienced interstate driver I avoid it…I’d rather drive a few hours out of my way then deal with it!
When I was a lad, my mentor (the Master in my posts) told me that 75% of the planet are wankers and that’s why it is so easy to succeed in life. A little harsh, maybe? But it does answer your question 😂😂
I agree with your mentor!
Well, if they are driving at the limit, no law abiding person (other than an emergency vehicle, in which case they have to move over to a shoulder and stop) has any reason to pass them. Right? Would you want such (possibly) self-righteous individuals to make life easier for scoff-laws?
It’s the ones who drive 10mph below the limit in the left lane that worry me. My grandmother did that a lot because then she could see where the edge of the road was. She was very short and could barely see out the front.
So in your mind someone driving in the passing lane with 10 cars lined up behind them who does not return to the right lane is in the right to do so?
No, but I can imagine how they would think so.
Listen, I’m still trying to figure out why people pull all the way over to the left in order to make a right-hand turn. I’m dumbfounded over both these mysteries of ding-bat drivers… And hell, I’m from New Jersey. 😂 🤣 😃 😄 😅 😆
This one kills me. I had someone swerve into the left lane to make a right turn. It is dumbfounding.
Execllent question! I lived in NJ from the time I was born until 22. Then lived in NY until I was 39. I didn’t develope road rage until I moved back to NJ. I absolutely hate NJ drivers.
I put it down to people being too self-important. On I-95 you also get a lot of drivers putting on their cruise-contol and don’t want to actually drive when traffic merges in the right lane. So frustrating. Traffic wouldn’t be so bad if people gave thought to their actions. I’ll stop now before ranting further. 🙂
I”m with you on this one too. Drives me insane.
I have no idea, but it really irks me!
I think people should be required to attend driving school once per year.
Why do people think that Yield and Stop signs not apply to them?
And why are you smoking marijuana (reefer, skunk, whatever) in your car at five o’clock in the morning?
People ignore Stop signs. Every day all day. Few ever bring all 4 wheels to a complete stop.
Unless you’re anal like me, lol.
Because humans suck. 😀🤷♂️
Ding ding ding. No more calls people we have a winner! lol
Hahaha I finally won something! I’m retiring now. 😀😂
Not so quick! The prize is a green jelly bean. lmao
Lol!
I know in our state (NJ) they always had signs on all the highways about that being the passing lane only, but you rarely see those signs anymore and for all I know they don’t teach that to new drivers anymore.
It is frustrating to say the least, Tessa. Drives me bonkers.
I don’t drive much anymore and will avoid a highway if at all possible.
Because I drive on the right :-p
Seriously this drives me nuts and you can stopped and given a ticket for it here
just to clarify if you are not driving in the “slow” lane and in one of the others without overtaking you can get pulled over.
However if you are overtaking at anything more than the speed limit you can also get pulled over
In the States I wish police would write tickets for it.
Apart from anything it is dangerous, but people don’t see that
Where I come from, the right lane is for people who want to go slower than the speed limit. The left lane is for people who want to go the speed limit or higher and it’s also for passing the slowpokes in the right lane. Technically here, you’re not supposed to use the left lane at all unless you’re passing, but that rule gets generally ignored.
Same in NC. However, I believe traffic would flow fluidly if more adhered to the rule.
