This is Take A Walk!
What it would be like to feel the power of a wave. The force, supremacy, and raw strength to stride the way a rush of water can. To be something so soothing, clear, and gentle as it lies still in its being, to then erupt with motion, a warrior undone.
The way I look at such an influx, is the way I strive my heart to be. I pray for a humbleness that a stranger can smell a mile away; an ability to see through me in a way that is dumbfounding, nothing to hide or run away from; a child’s innocence that is looked upon with envy, rather than judgement; and then in an instant, pick up my armor and flood the scene.
To have a passion stirring inside of me so pure and so deep, that it thrusts itself outward like a tide and overwhelms the world I…

For many years I thought it was okay to procrastinate and didn’t put much stock in how much of an impact it had on my life. But then my eyes were opened and I realized my procrastination impacted every aspect of my life. The reason? I had a general attitude of indifference and complacency! Procrastination was a manifestation of a lazy and destructive mindset.
I found this post by Koralee P on Hub Pages:
Some people are natural-born thinkers, and some people are naturally doers. Some do a lot of thinking, but never get anything done. While others, like me, bounce back and forth between the two.
When we’re in action mode, we’re organized and know…continue reading
I was thinking today and a question came to mind: Why aren’t there more amazing and spectacular people? Before you get your feathers ruffled, I am not referring to being a great person but to accomplishing great, amazing things. Why are there not more Steve Jobs, Michael Jordans, Muhammad Alis, Thomas Edisons, Edwin C. Barnes, etc.?
I believe that every single human being has in them the potential for great and amazing things; a light, a spark. Bill Gates was once quoted as saying, “I don’t believe there is anything unique about human intelligence,” and I could not disagree more. I know as sure as anything I’ve ever experienced that human intelligence is what makes each of us so incredibly unique and special.
It allows us to experience the exact same world in 7.125 billion different ways. But, with that said why do so many of us sacrifice our uniqueness and allow “life” to squeeze us through a sieve and mold us into individuals that, all to often, fear being different? If you believe and understand that there are no two human beings that are the same, why do we teach to conform?
We should be teaching the individual to celebrate and announce his or her uniqueness from the mountain top!!!
But as we learn quickly in life, the norm will move swiftly to extinguish any hint of creativity or originality.
Take for example how teenagers learn (I’ll use my teen years as example). If you don’t wear a Members Only jacket or glacier glasses, you are out. If you don’t own a pair of Vans, you are out. If you don’t like Break Dancing, you are out. I realize I am dating myself, but if nothing else maybe it got a couple laughs.
From a very young age we are conditioned to go with the norm and to keep our uniqueness to a minimum. After all no one wants to be different lest they be branded the “weird kid.”
After college it is expected that you will get a good job, pay taxes, buy a car and that is the path to becoming a contributing member of society. Then get married, start a family, raise your family, retire and enjoy the fruits of your hard work. And I guess there’s nothing wrong with that, but what about living a life that is spectacular?
Is that not possible for us all? Are we supposed to believe that all there is to life is paying rent or mortgages, bills and hoping one day to have enough to retire? There has to be more. If not, I’m checking out.
I challenge each of you to try something new and different. Find something that is so outside of your “world” or comfort zone and participate. What is one thing you would be afraid to do? Sky dive, public speaking, hold a spider? How about something you’ve always wanted to do but have not? Guitar lessons, enter an open mic night, join a poetry club, start up a band!, take a class at the community college, join a theater group or VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AT A LOCAL CHARITY!!
I want you to challenge yourself. Show yourself you are capable. This world is here for us to experience and it is time for more of us to do so! Get uncomfortable and reignite that spark that makes you, YOU! It is time to break the mold that life presses us into and spread those wings and fly!
I can never read enough posts encouraging others to take action now!!
Each of us have dreams. There is something that we each want to be, do, or achieve that will bring us true happiness.
I’ve learned that there is never a better time to push towards what you’re passionate about than today. You can make power moves today that will bring you one step closer to your goals.
You have what it takes. Don’t wait, DOMINATE!

This weeks installment ofThe Sandbox Writing Challenge 11is to write about what fascinates you………I decided instead of just making a list of things that could possibly go on and on and on, I’d just list a few things that jumped out at me when I first read the prompt……
Please forgive me this one…as a rule, I NEVER post anything political, I usually stay away from it. With that said, it’s hard to overlook what’s going on in the political arena these days. It fascinates me to think that our two ‘front’ runners are an accused liar…

So a few years back I was at a point of frustration professionally as I desperately wanted out to be out of the golf business. I was really tired of the long hours and working every weekend and just wanted out. I had spent the better part of my adult life working at or managing a golf course. I just couldn’t figure out what to do.
And this is a huge problem for a lot of people, especially those that feel like they are underachieving in life. Many like me have made this statement, “I know I am meant for something better or greater than this, I just don’t know what it is.”
And it is at this place in life that can cause a tremendous amount of frustration when in actuality it should be the most liberating experience ever! For it is at this moment that you have the chance to be or do something extraordinary; to reinvent yourself!
If you want to be a writer, but don’t know how, register for a class at your local community college. Want to start a business, but don’t have the capital? Start researching online about how to develop a business plan. If you fail to take action now in order to take advantage of future opportunities you will always be stuck where you are right now!!
I call this building Positive Forward Momentum.
When you step out and do one thing that starts the ball rolling. Taking a typing class in order to get a job as a personal assistant is a way of building Positive Forward Momentum. Eating healthy food in order to lose weight to run a half marathon is building Positive Forward Momentum. It is amazing how the ball picks up positive energy and away you go. I know it sounds like common sense but you have to take action in your life to bring about change. No one is going to do it for you.
When I read Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich it changed the way my mind perceived the world around me. I learned that there are unspoken laws that exist and that many of the world’s most successful people use them to get what they want. The formula is simple, but the hard work involved is not.
Here is the formula:
- Determine what it is that you want and state it
- Determine what you are willing to sacrifice to get what you want,
- Develop a persistent attitude,
- Have faith,
- Develop organized planning and
I have read biographies and autobiographies of some of the most successful inventors, business people, writers and politicians. I can tell you without question that everyone single one of them exhibited these traits while achieving their success.
For me personally I used this plan to lose a ton of weight. I have also used this formula to grow this blog, book speaking engagements and build the Dream Big brand. Currently, I am using this formula to write my book.
What you must understand is that I was not always the man of action you read about through the posts here on Dream Big. I was once a wisher of dreams not a doer of dreams. I would sit around and think up great ideas and never do anything about them. I wished to own my own business, but never did. I wished to be famous, but never did. I hoped to be a successful golfer, but never did.
Find something simple that you have desire for and apply this formula and get it. It could be something as simple as saving up to buy something or as monumental as getting a promotion.
I can still hear the words of Hill, “Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”
You can turn your desire into a tangible, real thing that can be held, felt and experienced!!
This post is so honest and real. I love the acronym ICANT..I Certainly Am Not Trying. We all must focus on what we can do and less on what we cannot do.
As I mentioned in my first post I am running a half marathon in October in Myrtle Beach. I am beyond nervous about this endeavor as it will be my first. I am not an athletic person. I try hard, but every time I make any progress, there is always a stop sign.

There is always an excuse to stop pushing forward. So, Like a good driver, I obey the rules of the road, and I stop. Well this morning we woke early to prepare for a busy day, and…

The Positivity Blog is one of my personal faves and I was drawn to this post. These are very simple bits of advice to retrain yourself to become a person of action versus putting things off. You can retrain yourself. You can change your habits.
