Low carb, 20 grams or less per day, not working so well.

Tessa Can Do It! Positivity is Catching!

I have decided to increase my carbs to 50 per day, still low carb, but not as drastic. I am not losing weight and the thought of eating like this the rest of my life is driving me nuts. I need more variety and I am picky as hell. It will most likely mean more insulin at first and I use insulin to correct what I am going to eat to keep my numbers lower.

Most days I probably won’t hit the 50 carb count anyway, but this gives me more choices. I am eating a lot more protein than the group I am in so will follow an atkins group which allows more protein. Atkins starts at 20 and goes up ater 2 weeks so already hit induction. I just reordered the original Atkins book and will attempt to reread. I know they have foods they don’t eat either…

Exercising with Diabetes – testing due to possible raising or lowering of blood sugar levels.

Tessa Can Do It! Positivity is Catching!

For the last few weeks I have been exercising in a class for seniors called Silver Sneakers. It may be for seniors, but it is as hard as a regular class just no floor exercises and the chairs also are for balance.

My morning blood sugar readings have been low (usually under 100) in the mornings. Most mornings lately I have been around 84 or so. My readings are pretty good right now so I have a pretty good grasp on my insulin shots finally and how much carb I can eat which is very little. I am following a low carb/high fat diet and try to keep my carbs in the Keto range (under 20) per day.

Exercise can be hard to regulate. It can make your levels go up or down and also depends on where your levels are when you start. According to one article they shouldn’t…

Diabetes runaway, 500 5 hours after lunch, 300 this morning fasting.

Tessa Can Do It! Positivity is Catching!

Not only that I am suffering bad stomach problems which I finally had to use the Zofran for nausea. I get pains after eating.

I am sleeping better with just the Antidepressant Remeron, but not as well as the first 2 days. I slept last night from 12 midnight to 5 AM this morning. Finally decided to get up since I am not tired or groggy. The sleep aids always made me so groggy all day I stayed in bed.

Ooops lost my focus and forgot what I was doing. My stomach has hurt for hours now. At least the pains are lessening.

Tomorrow I see the endocrinologist and see what his next brainy idea is. Nothing working so far,

New diabetes pen has sugars all over…

Tessa Can Do It! Positivity is Catching!

It is called Tanzeum. I was wrong with the name the other day. They decreased my oral meds and said it will take a couple of weeks to settle down. I was only 74 the other day than today it was 159. Crazy.

Got my new diabetic shoes. Took forever. The smallest pair is too big for my feet. She had to rig them to fit.

My sugars are staying high. Don’t know what changed.

Tessa Can Do It! Positivity is Catching!

I did have to get a new meter. Ordered it today. Don’t know if it has a problem because of the meter or not. I can’t use the buttons to get my previous readings. Maybe it is my diet. If the Victoza didn’t take my appetite away I could eat more carbs. Now even none (fasting) is high again.

My grandson went to Camp LeJeune last Monday. Should be home again in a month to try recruiting to earn more stripes and see if he likes it. Whatever he ends up doing, I am proud of him. He is a good boy and hard working.

Fasting level was a little high due to last night’s party for my grandson.

Tessa Can Do It! Positivity is Catching!

It was 160 this morning. Kept it fairly low carb today. Omelette with ham, bacon and sausage in it. Dinner was a huge salad of lettuce and then tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and a large scoop of tuna. All water to drink, no soda. Did have some diet soda last night so none today.

Psych nurse is raising my anti-psychotic. Not sleeping and not really tired. Kind of on the manic side of life due to the anti-depressant being higher dosage.

Sugar level was 114…FitBit

Tessa Can Do It! Positivity is Catching!

Have to recheck it in a bit since I ate more carbs than usual and need to see what it did to my sugar levels.

I  just checked it at the 2 hour mark and it was 271. Way too high!

My numbers come down slowly. They should come down faster. At least they are still coming down.

I wear a fitbit now and keep track of my steps. I made a goal of 1000 and my son changed it to 1500. Still fighting to meet the 2nd goal.

My pain level isn’t that bad today, but I do have the external yeast infection again and that is sore. Have cream to put on it.

Looking for helpful tips for a healthy lifestyle for someone who is not healthy…

Are you following Advocate For Mental Illness??

Tessa Can Do It! Positivity is Catching!

My problems are many, but diabetes is out of control. So either need a new dr (endocrinologist) or for my dr to step up to the plate and be a dr who cares about this. My numbers ran over 300 in the hospital and I was on insulin. My last recorded A1c was 9.9 and I know that isn’t good. It is bad and serious. I don’t want insulin and not sure I need it yet. Would like to control it with the oral medications instead if possible. I am terrified of needles.

I have requested a meter from this same dr, but was sent to voicemail with the nurses. No answer, no meter, but to go through insurance I need a script from the office.

It hurts to have the kids tell you that you are not the same strong mom they remembered. The one who fought mental disorders and…

Lifestyle Changes and Dealing with Grief

This is my aunt’s blog page. Give her a read and a follow…thanks all!

Sharpshooter77 Blog

Since losing Mom on August 17, 2015, I have spent the last 6 weeks or so, dealing with grief,  Almost every morning I get up and think about what I am going to do for Mom today only to catch myself and remember that Mom is not here any more, at least, in her physical form.  It hurts my heart.

I made a few new beginnings.  I have gone to my Doctor and am dealing with my blood sugars which are too high.  I pay attention to my insulin and sugar readings.  I am paying close attention to what I am eating and drinking.

No more  drinking the wrong things.  Nothing  but lemon water, and hot tea now.  Eating NO sugar, No white potatoes, limiting carbs and replacing with vegetables.  That’s my new lifestyle. I am eating No pork or gluten either.

My blood sugars have come down some but…
