Welcome Dream Big Partner: Writing Outside!!

I am pleased to welcome the latest blogger to become a Dream Big Partner: Write Outside

Cara

Here is an excerpt from the Write Outside about page:

“I am a Southern Yankee. Raised in Jersey, grew up in North Carolina (yes there is a difference). I am part Irish and part Italian. What parts you may ask? I inherited my freckles and fish belly white skin tone from the Irish and my petite midget-esque stature from the Italian. So I’m kinda like a leprechaun minus the gold. My brother got the tall dark and handsome genes, and yes I hold a grudge. I married my high school sweetheart, and we’ve been enamored with each other since 6th grade (insert gag reflex here). Where you find him, you find my foundation, my best friend and my happy place. At 6’2 and 5’0, we resemble green giant and sprout.

My parents both died young and I think those experiences fueled my adrenaline junkie spirit. I love jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and scuba diving into the deep. However, that toughness fades when I have to kill a spider.

I am obsessed with coffee ( cappuccino please!), traveling (I left my heart in Italy), all forms of chocolate (except white chocolate- what’s the point?), and great music (my playlists range from Dean Martin to Imagine Dragons). I can’t stand tail-gaters, those whose don’t use blinkers, mopeds or people who are “past their prime” driving ten miles below the speed limit. Hello, my name is Cara and I have road rage.

I work in the land of physical therapy, which I find both rewarding and challenging. However now I am attempting to follow one of my childhood dreams. I started with three: 1st to be the first woman president 2nd to be Paula Abdul and 3rd to be a writer of great things. Since I hate politics and confrontation, a presidential campaign is out. Though my dance moves are epic, dogs cower into the fetal position when I sing, so following in Paula’s footsteps isn’t an option. Which leaves becoming a writer of great things.

I have entered the blogosphere as a means to start this journey. So far it has been fraught with fear, inconsistency and self-depreciation. I am attempting to use my blog as a way to practice my writing skills, gain feedback and network with others who may have similar dreams.

Life continues to demonstrate its brevity to me, so I strive to fulfill my hopes and dreams now. I wish I knew what God has planned for my future, but since I don’t I pray for His guidance daily.
My current hope is to become a mother at least half as good as my own, finish my memoir and through my writing move people to think, laugh and live in the moment.

2018 Update:

Keeping to our manta of “Life is short-live it now”, my husband and I have moved to the mountains of North Carolina so he could follow his passion. We have opened up two successful fly-fishing outfitters and guide services. So you can say my husband is living the dream! I continue to work in physical therapy land in an inpatient setting, but this time I have a 180 degree view of the mountains. I have completed my first memoir and started work on my first work of fiction. I hope to find an agent for my memoir this Spring- fingers crossed! An new addition to the blog was my  amateur photography with encouragement for others to get outside. I find nature can be a great muse for writing.

Leave me a comment and introduce yourself!”

Welcome Dream Big Partner: Elena Peters!!

I am pleased to welcome the latest blogger to become a Dream Big Partner: Elena Peters:

Elena Peters

Here is a more about Elena Peters: explains why she writes:

“Fifty. Unfreaking believable. I know it is a cliche but where did the time go? It seems like yesterday I was finishing university and getting my first “real” job in an Accounting Office. Being a true Capricorn, I made major job changes every ten years, ending up at the age of 49 at a major international retail company in upper management. Unsatisfied and thankfully supported by my husband, I quit my job and began my journey of self-realization.

I spent the first six months cleaning and being the perfect housewife. And I soon found out that the more I did, the less everyone else did because, “Mom doesn’t work now, she will do it”. Strangely, this thankless and never-ending vocation did nothing to give me direction or purpose.

I literally fell into blogging through a back door, so to speak. My husband was diagnosed with Bipolar very soon after we were married. I would constantly be on social media, connecting with other spouses and people who have the same disorder. After a few Internet chats, I connected with a woman who had a blog about bipolar. She asked me to write some guest posts from a caregivers’ point of view. Most of those posts have now been transferred and reside on Living With Batman. You can also find me talking about my experiences or on YouTube.

I fell in love with blogging and decided to create my own blog for midlife women. Thus, ElenaOPeters.com was born. I like to cover all topics concerning baby boomer women but have an affinity for quality of life posts. I love to help women find a new purpose and true happiness in the second halves of their lives. I hope to create a space that is filled with parts laughter, information and inspiration.

Join me as I share my humour and bits of wisdom as a woman entering the prime of her life. I’m not afraid, I’m walking towards the light! I look forward to retirement, afternoon naps, 4 o’clock suppers and speaking my mind. Sounds pretty awesome to me!

Personal, quirky, need to know info about me:

  • I am the youngest of 4 siblings.
  • I live in the city I was born in.
  • Huge, huge Corrie Street fan.
  • Deathly afraid of needles
  • Ironically, oldest son has type one diabetes.
  • Married the man of my dreams (second time’s a charm).
  • My husband is a native San Diegan and we hope to retire there.
  • Together, we have 4 wonderful children, 3 dogs, 2 cats & one very busy, noisy house!
  • We love them all but we are so ready for them to leave.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay.”

Welcome Dream Big Partner: Issues from the Heart – Dr. R.A. Writes!!

I am pleased to welcome the latest blogger to become a Dream Big Partner: Issues from the Heart – Dr. R. A. Writes:

Issues Heart

Here is a post in which Dr. R. A. explains why she writes:

“The Bible says to “guard our hearts with all diligence because out of it flows the issues of life”. This may seem very vague as there is no outline as to how to guard it…no series or steps and definitely no recipe as to how to produce the desired result.  This results in individuals taking the scenic route of various trial and error processes and if we learn from these “trial and error” then we become that much wiser and cautious to following this advice.  We eventually learn that when this advice is not keenly adhered to then indelible impressions are etched on our person. It for this reason that I write and pour out the issues within. 11/13/16”

I thought of you today……..

cornfedcontessa

I can’t believe it’s been fifteen years.  December 29, 2002 to be exact. Fifteen years ago today, my dear sister in-law Joanne was killed by a drunk driver.  Joanne was an ER nurse on her way to work when she was cruelly taken away by a drunk driver at 6 o’clock in the morning.  I had spoken to her briefly on Christmas day, she was busy and I knew I could catch up with her later.  Later never came.

Nothing is more jolting than the phone ringing at 7 am, especially when your family lives out of state.  My mother called me to tell me the terrible news about Joanne.  She had been killed in a car accident. I could barely breathe, Joanne and I were very close. She had been a part of my family for 17 years.  I remember when I first met Joanne.  I told my brother…

Welcome Dream Big Partner: A Christian In Bloom!!

I am pleased to welcome the latest blogger to become a Dream Big Partner: A Christian in Bloom:

Here is an excerpt from the A Christian In Bloom about page:

“A Christian In Bloom was created out of a need to stay the course as I stumble along my walk with God.

I say stumble because truthfully, I need to up my game as a Christian.

God has always been a part of my life but like many people, during a dark time in my life, you could say I more or less turned my back on God.

Move to present day and the thought of turning my back on God makes me cringe. How He continues to forgive me I will never know.

Before this blog, I had another blog in which the main theme revolved around mental illness. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and at the time I needed an outlet to cope.

I have reached a point in my life where I am more comfortable with myself than I was then. I am more self aware and I am more aware of God than ever before. That’s what I truly relate to now and that’s what I want to focus on.

The topic of mental illness will always be close to my heart but I am more than my illness. I want to get to know this new me. I don’t want to rehash my past anymore. I want to know God and the plans He has for me.

It is my hope that when you visit here, you will feel safe and supported, connect with like minds and continue to grow in your faith.

One thing you will notice is that I love to write prayers. I feel at peace when I do this and so I figured a blog would be the best way to document my daily prayers.

I also like to express myself through poetry and love inspirational stories so I have included that here as well.

Finally, I offer a prayer chain for those in need of prayer. I know with all my heart there is power in prayer and there is power in numbers. ❤

In closing, I am not sure where this journey is going to take me, but I hope to meet people along the way who well help to enhance my journey with God. In turn, I hope I can do the same for you!

Take Care & God Bless ❤

Cavelle”

Welcome Dream Big Partner: Captain Jills Journeys!!

I am pleased to welcome the latest blogger to become a Dream Big Partner: Captain Jills Journeys:

captainjillsjourneys

Here is an excerpt from Captain Jills Journeys’ about page:

“I am an independent woman who works on the water and I love to travel the world whenever I can. I started out sailing on my fathers old schooner, got my own sea snark when I was a kid and worked around town on lots of friends fishing boats and the party boats down the street.I got real lucky and was sent off (as punishment!) to school on a large traditional sailing ship. We sailed from Greece to Martinique and back to Europe. That did it! I decided to become a ship captain and sail the world and get paid to do it! The love of travel and the sea has not left me yet and I guess it never will.Schooner Ariadne

I love to explore physically and mentally. I love the sense of adventure. I love to see whatever the world has to offer. I love to read and listen to music. I love to eat and drink and have a good time. I’m a friendly and down to earth person, I’m NOT politically correct! I take people as they come and love to meet new people.”

My name is Cavelle. Pleased to meet you!Mental Break – In Progress was originally created as a therapeutic outlet for me after receiving a diagnoses of Bipolar 2 Disorder. My life has evolved so much since then and writing has slowly but surely helped me to develop my voice and give me a sense of purpose.I write about many things however, you will note a few repeated themes –One of course being mental illness but also-

My walk with God. ❤

I went through a dark time in my life in which I turned my back to Him. I was in the throws of a mental illness I didn’t know I had and yet God has seen me through it all despite that.

Welcome Dream Big Partner: Runaway Nuns and Leprechauns!!

I am pleased to welcome the latest blogger to become a Dream Big Partner: Runaway Nuns and Leprechauns:

Here is an excerpt from Runaway Nuns and Leprechauns’ about page:

“Runaway Nuns and Leprechauns… an odd name for a blog or what? We’d actually prefer it to be known as a peaceful, magical and mystical spot. It’s a spot where you can stop in for a daily dose of love and laughter sprinkled with a bit of chaos, confusion and lunacy. You can get great recipes and cooking tips, as well as drilling and building ideas. Who does that? Who knows their way around the kitchen and around the tool shed?
Well, I guess that’s part of what’ll make this blog so interesting – that and the brief glimpse you’ll get into a very elite and exclusive lifestyle – one that supports a “never a dull moment” and “everything ain’t for everybody” attitude.
By the way, remember to keep an open mind (no judging or finger pointing), a watchful eye (be on the lookout for random giveaways), and a positive -pay it forward-attitude (everybody could use an occasional leg up).
Now I know it sounds easy, but don’t get it twisted, this “dance ain’t for everybody”, it’s not always a bowl full of cherries, but we make the best of it by drinking a whole lot of lemonade and by praying daily for peace, patience and understanding; after all, we woke up like this!”
