Santa Should Be On The Naughty List

I don’t want a lot for Christmas. There’s just one thing I need. Don’t care about the presents, shopping, or a Christmas tree – could we unblur the lines between good and bad? Make my wish come true, all I want for Christmas is less celebration of Black Hats (or Red Hats with Fur Trim), more celebration of White Hats (and cookies, definitely cookies).

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/12/03/santa-should-be-on-the-naughty-list/We cheer for serial killers, drug lords, mobsters; glamorize celebrities and corporate fat cats – I hear they can even become President.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/12/03/santa-should-be-on-the-naughty-list/We’re allegedly repulsed by the violence, greed, self-absorption yet…we’re mesmerized.

  • Look at Santa. Or should I say: Santa Claus, Pere Noel, Father Christmas, SinterKlaas, St. Nicholas, Dun Che Lao Ren, Kris Kringle?Secret Santa indeed…he needs many aliases, with all the break and enters; sure, he leaves gifts but also a lingering sense of unease.

New Job

The Pink Herald's Blog

In an effort to reduce stress in my life (for a variety of reasons), I have been looking for a new job and I found one!  I have been praying for a new position.  I had been at my previous position for over five years.  While it’s not the longest time, in today’s job market, it’s still considerable.

I left a company that had HUGE turnover (seasonal workers ‘n all) and went to a company where there is just me and another lady in the office.  The entire company has less than 20 employees.  Talk about a difference!

I do have to learn an entirely new industry, but so far it’s not too bad.  Seems I have the most technological information here.  My boss just learned to check his own emails within the past year.  Yea, I said “wow” too.  I’m so used to chaos, reporting to three or four…

Today I wish to share my joy with you 😀

Last night I became a Grandma. My son and his girlfriend got a little boy. This is really huge for me. This is my first Grand Kid and I feel so very happy

In short time, I will bring up some photos of the little boy

If you have followed my blog for longer time, you know, that I have two adult kids, a young man and a young woman. Both of them decided to get kids now, my daughter is pregnant and should give birth in February, so the happiness will be double up 😀

While I lay in ICU in the hospital, both of my kids visited me here in Spain. When I woke up, they both gave me these gifts by telling me, I would become 2 x Grandma, which absolutely gave me more to live and…

Minimalism: Less is more

RAFA FARIHAH

It’s officially the first day of fall but this Houston heat hasn’t backed down even a smidge. It might even be mid to late October till we get a cool breeze around here during the daytime. My wardrobe sure as hell won’t be waiting around for that (trust me, we’d be waiting till January for a decent drop in temperature).

It’s a new season, and I’ve got a new fashion approach I’m willing to take on. It’s trending, it’s in, and it’s what all the broke college kids are talking about these days — minimalism. You mean like minimal body coverage? Ummm, no. It doesn’t mean minimal effort either. Minimalism is about living with fewer material possessions and making the most of what you have so you can focus on what’s really important in life. This can mean redecorating your home in the simplest way possible, reducing clutter, and donating…

Beating Depression: Just Smile!

The Bipolar Storyteller!

The Bipolar Storyteller

Hey guys!  I’m back with a new life lesson I’ve learned, one in which I believe is extremely important and an incredibly easy thing to do to help get out of a Dark spell.  That lesson is being pleasant.  All.  The.  Time.

Now I know what you’re thinking.  “Be pleasant all of the time??? Lo, that sounds exhausting.”  That’s what I thought too when I witnessed it for the first time.  However, after trying it for the past week, I can honestly say that being pleasant consumes a ridiculously smaller amount of energy than being rude/indifferent/ in a general bad mood.

The people I have to thank for this valuable lesson are Lindsay and Shay Hayes, owners of Viridian Coffee (FANTASTIC coffee might I add, 10/10 would recommend), one of the places I am currently blessed to be employed.  These two people are two of the most phenomenal people…

No Whining Wednesday – Laugh

Pearls Before Swine!

The PBS Blog

Welcome back to No Whining Wednesday, the only day of the week where you do not get to whine, criticize, or complain. Today, we focus on not complaining for a 24-hour period. If you are new to this blog or this segment, please go HERE for our first post for a more detailed description of what this segment is all about.

The No Whining Wednesday Badge

Now I really wanted to share a good one today. There are many quotes and pieces of wisdom we can gain based on how important it is to laugh. But I wanted to find one that really spoke to the nature of this segment and will give us something to think about. It took some digging and there are some really good ones but the one I found that stuck out was this one:

“Laughter gives us distance. It allows us to step…

This is the kind of Christmas music I like.

This is Lucky Otter’s Haven!!

Lucky Otters Haven

I don’t want to hear Jingle Bell Rock ,  The Little Drummer Boy, Jingle Bells, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, or Santa Baby (puke!).   If I hear these kinds of songs on the radio I will change the station immediately, but unfortunately, they’re EVERYWHERE.  Bleh.

I don’t hate all Christmas music though.  I love traditional, religious carols like these.  It’s not necessarily because I’m religious either.   Even when I was a near-atheist, I still preferred them to secular Christmas ditties.   Call me stodgy and old fashioned (or snobbish), but it’s just much better music.  In my opinion.

These boys sing like angels.

I also really like Good King Wenceslas.   You don’t hear it a lot anymore.  It’s a traditional English carol about a good king who gives to the poor, so I think it’s definitely in the right spirit for the…
