Hindrance – a poem

I Am My Own Island

I am a hindrance.

I feel it in my bones.

In my mind

I walk like a ghost trying so hard to be real

At every corner lies a hindrance to my dreams

Money fame love acceptance

Beyond my reach

When will I let these wants go and be at peace?

Today’s Featured Blog…Peter’s Pondering!!

Peter's pondering

Unhand me woman! Let me be.

I’m leaving now, I have to flee.

I cannot stand another day.

You’ve hurt me so, in every way.

Unhand me now! Unless you stop

then I shall fight until I drop.

Unhand me now, I say again,

I cannot tolerate the pain.

Please let me be, just let me go.

I really used to love you so!

Now you have changed, or maybe not.

Perhaps I earned just what I got.

It may have been my fault, not yours.

Perhaps you really had just cause?

If that’s the case, then please forgive,

but let me go, please let me live!

(I have been happily married to my wife for 43 years now. In that time we have never been violent to one another – maybe the odd harsh word,  but not many!!)

Unmoored, To Set Sail

Dream Desire Achieve

My ship I have unmoored
My valise I have packed
My old life I have left behind
My old ways I have bid farewell
Into a new life I have set sail
Into a new life with my Captain

Disentangled from the entanglements
Disconnected from the connections
That hinder my journey
I hear the sound of the wind
As it beckons and calls, “Liberty!!”

Liberty to follow my heart
Liberty to live for Christ
Liberty to follow His leading
Liberty to live, not licence

Per adventure a tempest should arise
The Master of earth, oceans and skies
He is the Captain of my ship
He is my blessed assurance

My compass?
Lord, I have none
You are my only Compass
You are my only Guide
I have no other alternative
I seek none other either

She Spoke…

Cyranny's Cove

She spoke
I heard her say
something, I wanted to hear
She sighed,
I imagined, she wanted to leave me
I dreaded to hear
She stretched
her arms out,
until they encompassed me
she sighed a sigh
and told me
that I was the best thing
that ever happened to her
and that she feared,
losing me to another-
She reflected
the insecurities
of loving someone
like we did
with each other
She spoke, then
I spoke, and we
reassured each other
that the good times
were yet to come
with each other…

After Eight Moments…

Cyranny's Cove

Let the rain kiss you,

Let the rain beat upon your head

with silver liquid drops.

Let the rain sing you a lullaby…

Cyranny’s Cove!

Cyranny's Cove

via Daily Prompt: Later

Writing now

about later seems wrong.

Shouldn’t I

enjoy now, and

not care too much,

or at least not

worry about later

for now?

Now, will die

soon enough

becoming then,

and thens will add

up, and be the past…

And later is

so uncertain…

Take yesterday.

Yesterday, I believed

later would be as

sweet as then was.

But tables turned

and now is leaving

a bitter aftertaste

in my mouth

before turning into

the past…

If only it

had been true,

when you smiled

and waved as you said,
